A Secret Identity Sports Romance
Terrific Tours Series, Book 4
She’s the life of the party hiding behind a smile. He’s a quiet night porter hiding a star athlete’s secret.
Amsterdam, 1997.
Amelia Ross is living the European summer dream. As assistant manager at The Canal House, a quirky Terrific Tours hotel, she spends her nights pouring shots, dodging disasters, and charming backpackers from around the globe. Behind the cheeky grin and one-liners is a girl who’s always “on,” terrified of what happens if she ever stops performing.
Jesse van Dijk is the opposite. Lanky, soft-spoken, and easy to overlook, the night porter with oversized glasses seems content fading into the background. But Jesse’s hiding too: a past he’s spent years running from, and a talent he’d rather forget than face again.
When an after-dark run turns dangerous, Jesse doesn’t hesitate. What Amelia discovers that night is only the beginning: strength, confidence, and a body that most definitely does not match his baggy sweater. Turns out Jesse has secrets of his own, including a contract to play professional football for Ajax, and a life he walked away from once already.
As the summer heat rises, Amelia and Jesse start peeling back each other’s carefully built disguises, hers built from performing, his from hiding. Neither believed they could be loved for who they actually are. Both are about to find out they were wrong.
A funny, feel-good love story about two people who finally stop performing and start being seen.
Tropes: secret identity, sports romance, opposites attract, workplace romance, protector hero, 1990s vibes

What readers are saying
The latest instalment in the Terrific Tours series is set in Amsterdam, where busloads of young travellers discover the city’s sexier side and stay at the Canal House Hotel, where assistant manager Amelia is hiding behind her life-of-the-party persona. Jesse, the quiet night porter, is hiding a secret of his own. Told with Scott’s trademark humour, Night Shift is the story of what can happen when two guarded people open up to each other.
